The Lake Place Page
So...with high gas prices, fighting to get campground
reservations, and a desire to have a family gathering place...we decided
to buy a lake place.
It's a one acre secondary lot overlooking Coeur d'Alene Lake about 35 miles from
our front door.
There's a boat slip for our water toys and plenty of trees and trails for the
kids and dogs.
An aerial view of Carey Bay at the south end of the lake.
That's the marina where our boat slip is located.
Our lot is on the hill just on the right edge of the wing strut.
Another view of the bay.
Our slip with the boat, Shawn's stand-up on the dock, and the WaveRunner.
The sewer line under construction.
There it goes..on to the septic tank.
Nancy watering the grass plants and bushes we planted below the driveway.
Shawn's little travel trailer in the fall of 2007.
Yep..it snows in south Kootenai County.
The slash pile burning.
The motorhome arrives on site-May 11, 2008.
Tucked together in the driveway.
From below.
Working up a sweat measuring things out
The "jungle" prior to thinning things out.
Our first little woodpile. This tree is not right outside the living room
of the cabin.
Boys and fire.
More fire. No...the diesel in the can did not explode.
After we cleared the lot and had a couple of fires.
Our first aerial photo. Our lot is just across the road from the driveway
in front of the green shop.
Yep, need some clearing work.
Excavation for the septic system and RV pad is just getting started.
The pad is in place.
Leveling the pad. When he got done it was perfectly level.
Sometimes the boat slip gets a little weedy.
The water line trench.
More water line work.
Water is in along with the septic system.
The power is in. This is before we used any little electrons. Those
numbers are now significantly higher.
We made some little "temporary" steps to get down from the RV pad.. We
still use them.
The first attempt in backing the motorhome up the driveway.
Made it.
Wood piles and fire pit.
The "wall" we built to keep the slope behind the RV's from sliding.
An aerial view of the hillside neighborhood.
Shawn and Quincy setting out the stakes to make the cabin location.
We tore out the fire pit to salvage the rocks before the cabin covered it up.
The porta-potty is ready for the construction workers.
Got paint?
Got the most important appliance installed and working.
